A weekend of firsts
Rosemary started school on Friday:
She enjoyed herself and was pleased with the pictures she drew, but was rather disappointed to not have got homework. When I reminded her that she probably wouldn’t get homework for quite a while, she cried. Definitely my daughter, then.
I surprised myself (and others) by not crying. To be honest, I think I’m looking forward to Rosemary growing up. I’m already enjoying her burgeoning interest in many things – her fascination with numbers, discovery of acrobatics, gradual exploration of letters and words and so on – and looking forward to sharing so much more with her. To me, starting school is the start of a wonderful lifelong journey in education and learning, not the end of an era of innocence and cuddles. And hopefully, it will also herald an end to the era of tantrums! Roll on 2014 when Eleanor will start school (sooooo far away!).
This weekend was the Stroud Fringe Festival:
Live (free) music, circus skills workshops, Stroud School of Samba procession, face-painting, and basically lots of fun. Friday night I went out for a couple of hours with my sister, Eva, her friend Magda and our cousin, Holli and listened to some music at the Bank Gardens stage (brilliant idea to have a stage there, as it’s so much nicer to be able to sit down on the grass, than on concrete or cobbles) and even had half a pint of beer.
Saturday, I took the girls in for the whole day and met up with my sister, mum, aunt and cousin’s little boy.
Eleanor got her first shoes and Rosemary got her first trainers:
Eleanor had her first dance at a festival:
And Rosemary had her first taste of candy floss:
All in all, it was a wonderful weekend.
Did you have any firsts this weekend, that you’d like to share?
