Stars and stripes round-up
Well, the first day of Book Week kicked off with an exploration of American literature with a round-up of my favourite American books as a child and an adult, followed by a review of a couple of lovely looking American children’s books from my cousin, Sunny, and then a post from Maria, a scientist, blogger and mum (not necessarily in that order!) who moved to San Francisco many years ago, about her love of American literature.
I’ve enjoyed today’s posts and they’ve reminded me of books I want to dig out and reread, as well as books I would like to share with the girls and they’ve also introduced me to some new books and authors that I will be looking out for soon. The latter is one of the things I enjoy most about Book Week and book blogging in general.
Tomorrow’s theme is Summer Holidays and it’s for the children. There will be posts about learning to read and planning holiday projects or topics, as well as a fantastic round-up of some really wonderful activity books that will, I’m sure, be going on most of your shopping lists by the end of tomorrow. So, be sure to come back tomorrow, or subscribe or check the #BookWeek hashtag and through the rest of the week, which will include themes of Holiday Reading, Holiday Projects, Writing in the Garden, Holiday Learning and Fly Away, with the giveaway on Sunday.
