What I like to read…
This is a Book Week guest post from Becky Goddard-Hill (no relation!) of Baby Budgeting and Book reviews for mums. A wonderful poem that sums up the effects books have on our lives.
I like to read books
With lots of new things to learn
About how to teach my children and
Increase what I earn
I like to read books
On managing my clutter
And how to reduce the effect
Of real butter
Nonfiction is great
It’s full of advice
And shows me
Another slice of life
But fiction, oh fiction
You take me away
To being a queen deep
In love for a day
A sexy designer or a waif
In a castle or
Stowed on a ship away
From life’s hassle
And poetry…
Poetry you taught me to sing
To be lost in words
Such solace they can bring
I also love
To read to my child
Of dragons, princesses and
Tigers in the wild
And I adore telling stories
And let them unfold
Sat round in candlelight
As in days of old
Reading is truly a wonderful gift
Without books
There is SO much life
I’d have missed.
