Review: London for Children by Matteo Pericoli
I was sent a copy of London for Children to review by the publisher Macmillan Children’s Books. (You can read my review focusing on the illustrations over on my illustration blog, Tasha Goddard Illustration.)
Turn the book over for the North Bank:
London for Children is a book of the rather mammoth project of illustrator Matteo Pericoli who essentially walked the length of Thames in London and drew all the buildings along it – on the South Bank and the North Bank. Here’s what he says about it:
Wow!
Here’s a spread from the book:
Each spread deals with a section of the riverside and it is filled with fun (and sometimes gruesome) facts. It’s a great book to dip in and out of and older children will love it. My girls (2 and 6) didn’t really like it, probably because they are a bit too young and perhaps because they don’t know London well.
We’re off to London today, so I’m hopeful that RoRo might want to look at it with a bit more interest when we come home.
I would strongly recommend this book if you have children who like interesting facts and if you live in London or visit a lot, I think it’s definite must to add to your bookshelf!
