Can I go to sleep, now please?
It’s 4.30am and I’m upstairs on the Internet while Chris helps Eleanor get back to sleep and while Rosemary tries to go back to sleep. I just want to climb back under my covers and get that little bit more sleep I’m due. Please.
Since moving into the bunk bed, Eleanor’s sleep habits have gradually gotten a bit worse. She had been sleeping through the night comfortably in her cot, but was waking in the bed. It had been a long time since she’d been fed back to sleep, but it seemed to be working well as a means to getting her back to sleep nice and quickly, so I went with it. It was fine for a while. But now she ends up having ‘dot dot’ for hours on end in the middle of the night and then it doesn’t get her back to sleep and she becomes more wide awake, instead.
So we’re working on it, letting her calm down and go back to sleep in our room, away from me and the ‘dot dot’. She’s calming down pretty quick. Gradually we’ll work on cutting out the coming through to our room, hopefully. In the meantime, though, I’m getting fed up with the sofa and it’s really annoying when Rosemary gets woken by the crying and then struggles to get back to sleep herself. It probably won’t take much more than a week to get back to a more comfortable sleeping pattern, but I wish it would be over already.
The picture is the girls asleep on this year’s French holiday. They had to share a bed, which actually worked out fine, though they did have to sleep sideways so Eleanor wouldn’t fall out of bed.
How about you? Are you having any sleep woes at the moment? Want to moan about them (or just share them)?
