Sister by Rosamund Lupton
This is a Book Week review for Wednesday’s Holiday Reading theme.
This is a stunning book. It is written as one sister’s letters to another. Beatrice is writing to Tess, who is missing. Beatrice is trying to find out what happened to her sister, dealing with everyone’s (including her fiancé’s and mother’s) disbelief. She explores Tess’s life, of which she knew much less than she thought, talking to her friends and lovers, even making new friends herself.
Her search for the truth brings her closer to her sister, to the point where she’s taking on some of her personality, even.
The book is very tense and has you wanting to move immediately on to the next chapter (a definite page-turner), but it’s also beautifully written. It has you guessing all the way through and the twist at the end is very unexpected.

If you’ve read Sister yourself, I’d love to hear what you thought of it.
