Book Week giveaways
Thanks for stopping by and joining in with Book Week – there will be a round-up of the whole week a bit later this evening, including links to other people’s existing posts that we didn’t manage to squeeze in over the week. If you haven’t managed to read all of the posts, then come back later and take a look at the round-up and browse through the posts you want to read.
We have a number of books to give away today, some provided by the authors and some provided by the publishers. To enter, just leave a comment below stating which book (or books – you can enter to win all of them, if you like) you want to win and then tell me which was your favourite Book Week post and/or what you’d like to see in the next Book Week. See the end of the post for the official terms and conditions.
Closing date: Sunday 10 April
Quirk Books titles
Three copies each of the following four books from Quirk books:
- The Captain Jack Sparrow Handbook – A hands-on book with historical information, tips and advice about becoming a swashbuckling pirate. It includes information on deciphering treasure maps, climbing rigging and dealing with supernatural forces.
- Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: Dreadfully Ever After – This is the finale to the Pride and Prejudice and Zombies trilogy, which in a nutshell takes Jane Austen’s books and throws in some zombies. Seems the trilogy (and others in the same series, such as Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters) will either leave you laughing out loud or grinding your teeth in consternation, depending on how big a Jane Austen fan you are. (I’m a huge one, so should probably keep away.)
- Masterpuppet Theater: The World of Shakespeare at Your Fingertips! – This set allows you to put on Shakespeare finger puppet plays – useful for introducing children to Shakespeare. Sixty finger puppets feature Shakespeare’s most famous characters, along with a 96-page folio book with his most memorable dramatic scenes in. There are also 12 stage sets, including castles, forests, battlefields, and balconies.
- Women Know Everything: 3,241 Quips, Quotes & Brilliant Remarks – A compilation of quotes from successful women, serving to demonstrate that women know everything. Amongst other subjects, it covers art, business, children, dating, elections, family, gardens, history, hairstyles, career and love.
Not part of the giveaway, but look out for The Jane Austen Handbook , which teaches young ladies how to behave in Regency England. It also provides historical information about the period and information about the books.

- One copy of Becky Goddard-Hill’s How to Afford Time Off with your Baby (see today’s earlier post).
